Methods of Application Telone II can be applied at any time of the year, however, effective control is dependant on soil conditions. Telone II should be applied prior to planting due to lack of residual pest control. It can be applied either broadcast or in row. The chemical should be placed approximately 10" in depth, and even deeper when planting deep rooted plants. Broadcast (overall) application of the chemical can be done using a chisel (shank), Nobel (sweep) plow, or plow-sole. The use of chisel equipment requires that the spacing outlet is no greater than 24" and should not exceed 1/2 times the depth. In general, outlet spacing is equivalent to depth of application. A 12" outlet spacing is recommended when using plow-sole equipment. With a Nobel or sweep plow, it is recommended to use a 9" spacing along the sweeps. It is recommended to immediately seal the surface to reduce loss of chemical to the atmosphere. This can be achieved by the use of a ring roller, disc, or cultipacker. All plant residue should be below the surface after sealing the surface. Sealing can also be done using a tarp or plastic over the treated area. A light sprinkler application of water can be used to wet the upper 1-2" of soil to form an effective seal and reduce chemical losses. The soil should not be disturbed for 7 days after the application. If the soil is cool or wet when planting deep rooted plants, a longer waiting period may be required. The fumigant must then be allowed to dissipate from the soil following the treatment period. To increase the
