moisture levels in the root zone for one week prior to application. Vorlex is applied as a liquid for broadcast (overall) or row treatment. Methods of Application Broadcast treatment uses shanks that inject the chemical 6-8" in depth. For row application, space the injectors the same width as the planter and inject 6-8" in depth, then seal the treated strips. At temperatures above 600 F, allow treated area to remain undisturbed and moist. When temperatures are below 600 F then a longer waiting period should be observed. Once the waiting period is complete, then aerate the soil by cultivation, such as disking. It is recommended to allow another 7 days prior to planting of crop. If temperatures are below 60o F after cultivation, then a longer waiting period should be observed. Application rates for Vorlex are shown in Table C.3. Tarping is not required for Vorlex, however, it has been found to increase the efficacy of the chemical. Vapam3 Environmental Conditions The treated area should be cultivated to break up clods and loosen the soil. Apply water to moisten the ground to desired depth prior to application of the chemical. Do not apply when air temperatures are high or when excess wind is evident. In the area to be treated, soil temperatures should be between 400 and 900 F at a depth of 3 inches in the soil. 3This information is derived from the specimen label for Vapam.
