ABSTRACT A simulation model is developed to assess the economic feasibility of utilizing photovoltaic arrays to power irrigation systems in Florida. The model can be applied to any type of irrigation system. Furthermore, a variety of economic and institutional scenarios can be specified by means of user input variables. Simulation results for permanent over- head systems irrigating citrus suggest that the use of photovoltaic arrays to power irrigation systems may be economically feasible as early as 1984. Key words: solar energy, photovoltaic array, present value, simulation.
