 DISEASES CAUSING FRUIT DECAY

 BLUE AND GREEN MOLD DECAYS
 Caused by Penicillium italicum Wehmer and
 Penicillium digitatum Sacc.
 The most prevalent form of decay of citrus fruits in Florida
is commonly designated by the general term "blue mold", al-
though two forms of mold decay are included in this designa-
tion, namely blue mold and green mold. These decays are of
world-wide occurrence in citrus groves and packinghouses and

on the markets. The average annual loss to Florida growers
from these mold decays is estimated at $3,000,000, being second
in importance only to that caused by melanose.
 SYMPTOMS OF MOLD DECAYS
 The first symptoms of either the blue or green mold decay is
