HE :LOST PIECE OF SILVER> ;:AS ^ ^. -. i i ,,* ;iwN -- NCE when CHRIST was talking to some very bad people, whom He! wished to make good, some unkind proud men who stoocy+ were.angry because the good LORD talked to those sinners.'Then JESUs, to make them understand how glad our dear HeavenlyFather is to forgive His children when they are sorry for being haughty,.said to them,"What woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, dothnot light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it ?"And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neigh-bours together, saying, 'Rejoice with me; for I have found the pice whichI had lost.' A"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angelsof GOD over one sinner that repenteth."And so, added our loving Saviour, the angels of GOD are glad whenany one who has been naughty and wicked is sorry, and tries to do better. Now children should try to be like JESUs and the angels, and- be gladwhen a little playfellow, or sister, or brother, is sorry for being naughty.Every child knows how nice it is to find something he or she has lost-how much more they care for it than they did before; they ought to betjust as glad when a naughty child is good as if they had found a lost pieceof silver. And they should try and coax the cross child to be good, and notteaze and be unkind. Here we end our Pictures of Parables. Was it not very good of ourLORD JESUS CHRIST to tell people so many pretty stories, which had, asyou haveseen, two meanings, one of which the hearers had to find out? These pretty'stories or allegories are called in the Bible " Parables."; 0 ;. -f.4i'd c l '.
