THE TALENTS.E9UR SAVIOUR once told His disciples this parable. A certainman, who was going to travel in a far country, caled his servants, and gave each of them some money called talents. The piece of moneywhich was called a talent was worth a great many of our sovereigns. To one servant he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, just as he thought they were able to use them. After a long time the lord of these servants came back, and wished toknow what they had done with the talents. The one who had received five brought five more, which he hadgained by trading wisely with the money.-So he had ten."Well done, thou good and faithful servant," said his master: "you havebeen faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things;enter thou into the joy of thy lord."Then the servant who had received two talents brought back four (heis the servant in the picture); and he also was praised and rewardel byhis lord. But the servant who had only one talent to use, did no good with it, buthid it in the earth, and made a rude excuse, and said, he was afraid to use it.Then his master was angry, and took away the talent from him,*ndgave it to the one who had ten, and ordered the idle servant toe punished.GOD gives us all some talents.-Time is one. We must use it so asto please Him; and so we must all our talents, however small they maybe. We can all worltfor Go if we try.f A
