Herbicide applications are common practice in the control of "nuisance species" when in fact such applications deplete species richness and may delay successional development. Future research could focus on the extent herbicide applications delay site development, not to mention the effects on "desirable species" and wildlife. In the long run, the simulation model shows a negative effect for vine removal. Is this an accurate prediction for real forested wetlands over a period of decades? Also, what are the levels of vines in natural forested wetlands in the central Florida phosphate district? Are levels similar for reclaimed wetlands? If not, why, and how can reclamation managers create conditions that support natural levels? 6-108
