MISCELLANEOUS AMUSEMENTS. 171 EATABLE CANDLE ENDS, _Cur a piece of apple into the shape of a candle end, next cut a slip out of the inside of a sweet almond, to imitate the wick, put the wick into the centre of the apple, light it for a moment to blacken the tip, then blow it out again. When showing the trick light the wick, which will readily take fire, put it into your mouth, masticate and swallow it with apparent relish. The best time for exhibiting this trick is while the dessert is on the table and the company are engaged in conversation. THE CONJUROR’S JOKE, Take a ball in each hand and stretch your hands as far apart as you possibly can; then tell the company that you will make both the balls come into whichever hand they please without bringing the hands into contact with each other. This is done by laying one of the balls upon a table, then turn yourself round, and take it up with the other hand.
