Olsen Re: OSP #29250-5594 Project Coordinator NEH/USAIN Preservation Project Mann Library Cornell University Ithaca, NY 14853-4301 Dear Wally: I am requesting a no-cost extension to our portion of the NEH/USAIN grant from 1 July, 1997 through 31 December, 1997. With the money that remains in our award we plan to do a preliminary physical inventory of the extant issues and volumes of the serials that we shall microfilm for preservation, a very necessary step in a successful serial preservation project. The length of the no-cost extension is such because a) we have been (and continue to undergo) an extensive renovation of our facility which has introduced interruptions in work flow; b) our student support drops significantly during the summer months. We are all confident that Phase II of the NEH/USAIN grant will be funded and we want to have as much of the task prepared ahead of time as possible so that we shall meet the deadlines, and budget allocations, for that phase of the grant. Thank you for your assistance and leadership in this effort. Sincerely, John E. Ingram Principal Investigator Copies: Samuel C.
