JoAnn DeVries JoAnn VeVries is Associate Librarian, Reference/Bibliographer at the Central Library of the St Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota since 1991. She received her BA from Northwestern University in 1965 and her M.L.S. from Indiana University in 1982. She has also been a Lecturer in the Rhetoric Department 1987; 1989, Lecturer for the Department of Extension 1989; 1991; 1993; 1995, and Instructor at Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Watson Library, 1982-1986. Her present job responsibilities in the area of reference include daily reference services and consultation by appointment, liaison to the Office of International Agricultural Programmes for visiting international faculty and scholars, library research instructor for the Minnesota Agriculture Student Training Program for international students, and coordinator for an annual graduate student research workshop. She also writes collection policies, assesses and selects print and electronic materials for the Central Library reference collection. In the area of collection development, she is responsible for developing, selecting, maintaining, and preserving comprehensive collections in general agriculture, agricultural engineering, animal science, soil science, agronomy, and vocational education. She is Resources Group Coordinator for Agriculture, Biology, and Environmental Sciences, and in this capacity serves as leader and spokesperson for collection development and management on the St. Paul Campus. For the Foreign Exchange Publications Program, she administers exchange of research materials with research centers, university libraries, and organizations in foreign countries, corresponds with current exchange partners, and actively creates new exchange relationships. Her professional activities membership in the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, and the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists. She received the Oberly Award for Bibliography in the Agricultural Sciences, ACRL, STS and was committee chair of the United States Agricultural Information Network. Suzanne D. Gyeszly Suzanne D. Gyeszly was the Preservation Librarian and a Cataloger at Evans Library, Texas A&M University, from 1981-84. She returned in 1988, and has been the Collection Development Coordinator for Social Sciences and Preservation since that time. Her dual responsibilities include collection development duties and preservation activities. As a collection development librarian, she is responsible for the development and management activities of the library's social sciences collection. She performs collection development, selection, and management activities in the areas of anthropology, education, geography, kinesiology, library science, nautical archaeology, presidential studies, recreation, parks and tourism sciences, and women's studies. She analyzes and evaluates the collections, and participates in serials reviews and cancellations as needed. She works closely with library representatives, domestic and foreign publishers, and out of print dealers. She maintains the budgets associated with social sciences and preservation. As preservation librarian, she coordinates the preservation program for the library. She is responsible for the development and administration of the preservation program for the Evans Library collection of over two million volumes. She develops the priorities, procedures and policies in her areas of expertise. She plans and conducts training sessions for library personnel on the proper handling of library materials. She and her staff prepare exhibits, disaster plans, and condition surveys for the library. The recently updated disaster plan and emergency evacuation plan for Evans Library became a model for the members of the Houston Area Research Libraries Consortium (HARLiC). Ms. Gyeszly serves as a
