CHAPTER XXXIV. DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY DIFFICULTIES. WE must not expect always to go smoothly * forward in life, without opposition, reproach, or suffering; if we do, we shall be almost sure to meet with disappointment, and to be depressed by discouragement. Wherever there is anything worth possessing, there we shall find many persons striving for it, and in the competition we shall of course meet with difficulties.
