that God would hear your prayer,
and bestow upon you the gift of his
saving grace? Are you seeking for
the help of his Holy Spirit, to give
you strength when you are tempted
to do wrong, and to incline you to
that which is good? Do not deceive
yourself, but remember that you can-
not be sincere in your prayers if you
are daily giving way to the evil pas-
sions and tempers of your fallen
nature. Remember, also, that God,
who looks upon the heart, can see if
you cherish there the love of sin, and
will not be mocked by the words of
the lip without the earnest desire of
the soul.
