ing of the palace was commenced in
the latter part of July, 1850, and finish-
ed near the close of January, 1851.
The whole number of visitors to the
great exhibition, was upwards of five
and a half millions. The revenue from
the sale of tickets and otherwise, after
paying all the expenses, was more than
a million of dollars. ‘Sixteen thousand
dollars were paid for the privilege of
printing in the crystal palace, -and
twenty-seven thousand dollars for the
privilege of selling refreshments there.
