found that the needle will act there,
just as well as any where else; for
that spot is a good many miles from
the magnetic pole.

I wish from my heart that somebody
could succeed in reaching the north
pole. If any one should get there, he
would see a great many curious sights,
whether the needle played any of its
strange antics or not. Among other
curious sights, he would get where the
sun never rises or sets! Would it not
be wonderful enough, to see the sun,
all day and all night, just about so high
all the time, making a complete circle .
