THE HUMMING BIRD. Tuts brilliant and lively little bird may be seen in the gardens during the spring and summer, gathering honey from every flower, like the bee. Its flight is very rapid, with the wings constantly moving with a humming sound, and producing a balancing suspension in the air while sipping its delicious nourishment. There are said to be a hundred different species of the Humming Bird. Some of them are not much larger than a full-grown bee. Their colors are brilliant beyond all com- parison.
