YELLOW SHANKS TATLER. 45 communicates its alarm to other birds, it is much disliked by sportsmen, though its flesh is considered very good eating. Some- times, and most commonly at the approach of stormy weather, they are seen in small restless bands, roving over the salt marshes and along the banks of the rivers. The glittering of their wings and snow- white tails, make them a brilliant sight as they mount in the air. Like Plovers they may be called around a sportsman by an imitation of their whistle.
