him in pieces and devour him. It is re-
markable that when the Hyzna is forced
to run, he will always appear lame for a
considerable distance; but after running
for some time, this halting disappears,
and he proceeds on his course very swiftly.
The African Hysena is sometimes tamed.
This animal is spotted, and is larger than
the Hyzena found in Asia. It devours
every kind of carrion, and is, therefore,
useful in the warm climates, when, with-
out them the air might become infected.
