Do we honour a painter, when despising, or looking with perfect indiffer- ence on, his worksP Do we show our admiration of a poet or a musician, by turning with apathy from the noble thoughts of the one, and the sublime strains of the other P Do we consider it sufficient to pay them a few unmeaning compliments? Assuredly not; we study their works, and learn still more to admire the painter, the poet, and the mu- sician.
