WATER RESOURCES OF ORANGE COUNTY 5 WELL-NUMBERING SYSTEM The well-numbering system used in this report is based on latitude and longitude coordinates derived from a statewide grid of 1-minute parallels of latitude and meridians of longitude. Wells within these guadrangles have been assigned numbers consisting of the last digit of the degree and the two digits of the minute of the line of latitude on the southside of the quadrangle, the last digit of the degree and the two digits of the minute of the line of longitude on the east side of the quadrangle, and the numerical order in which the well within the quadrangle was inventoried. For example, well 827-131-3 is the third well that was inventoried in the 1-minute quadrangle north of 28027' north latitude and west of 81031' west longitude (See figure 1.).
