ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF WATER The quality of water in the Green Swamp area reflects the solubility of the material which the water contacts and its biologic environment, both of which are natural influences. Surface water is usually lower in mineral content than ground water because of low solubility of materials on the surface of the ground and short time of contact of water with the materials.
