St. Johns. The successful operation of the locks of the canal would depend on the flows of the large springs.
Gaging stations on the small streams of the area are far too few and have been operated only for short periods..Before these streams are developed for municipal, industrial, and agricultural supplies, records of their flows will be needed. Also, records of the flow of smaller streams are prerequisite to estimates of groundwater recharge.
