GEOGRAPHY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA 289 INDEX This index is intended to include references to all important topics in the whole volume (though at least nine-tenths of it pertains to pages 71-288, on the Geography of Central Florida) that are not sufficiently indicated by the tables of contents or common to all the regional descriptions or several or many of the statistical tables, except the species of foraminifera, which are indexed separately on page 70. Numbers in parentheses indicate pages on which the topics in question are referred to indirectly or under different names. Technical names of plants (about 230 species) and animals are italicized. Where only a generic name is given it means either that there is only one sp-ecies of that genus in central Florida, or that the identity of the one mentioned is uncertain, or else that the statement referred to applies to several or all of the species of the genus. In order to find all the references to some of the commoner species it may be necessary to look up both technical and common names in the index. The number of references to different species will give some idea of their relative importance in the area treated, which might not always be apparent otherwise.
