To change the dates for the referendum on status; and for other purposes related
thereto



BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands:

 SECTION 1. (a) Section 2 of Act No. 5426 (Bill No. 18-0002), as amended by
Act No. 5612 (Bill No. 18-0250), is further amended by deleting the dates June 4,
1991, July 9, 1991 and November 5, 1991, wherever they appear, and inserting in lieu
thereof the dates September 7, 1993, October 5, 1993 and November 2, 1993
respectively.

 (b) Section 4 of Act No. 5426 (Bill No. 18-0002), as amended by Act No. 5612
(Bill No. 18-0250), is further amended by deleting the date June 4, 1991 and inserting
in lieu thereof the date September 7, 1993.

 (c) Section 2 of Act No. 5426 (Bill No. 18-0002), as amended by Act No. 5612
(Bill No. 18-0250), is further amended by adding at the end thereof the following:
 "In the event none of the options obtain a majority of the
 valid votes cast, a runoff referendum shall be held on November
 16, 1993 in which the options receiving the first and second
 highest number of votes shall appear on the ballot."

 SECTION 2. The Commission on Status and Federal Relations (hereafter
"Commission"), as established in Section 2 of Act No. 5332 (Bill No. 17-0157), and
amended by Act No. 5417 (Bill No. 18-0036), is authorized and directed to continue
the public information and education campaign described in Section 2, subsections
(d) and (e) of Act No. 5332.
