ACT NO. 5612 (1990) BILL NO. 18-0250 EIGHTEENTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 1990 To hold a referendum on November 6, 1990, to enable the voters of the Virgin Islands to decide whether the Government of the Virgin Islands should be restructured in order to provide for local government. BE IT ENACTED by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. (a) A referendum shall be held on November 6, 1990, to enable the voters of the Virgin Islands to decide whether the Government of the Virgin Islands should be restructured in order to provide for local government. (b) The question to be placed on the ballot is: "Should the Government of the Virgin Islands be restructured in order to provide for local government? [ ] YES [] NO" SECTION 2. Further legislative action shall not be taken pursuant to Section 1 of this Act unless 50 percent plus one of those persons registered to vote in the November 6, 1990 General Election choose to restructure the Government of the Virgin Islands to provide for local government. SECTION 3. Act No. 5426 (Bill No. 18-0002), enacted August 4, 1989, is amended in the following instances: A. In Section 1, insert a period ("."), in lieu of the comma (",") after hereofof") and delete the remainder of the sentence.
