Pastures: The total area cleared and devoted to pastures, according -

- to new surveys, amounts to 46,155 acres, of which 42,065 acres are com-

pleted and 4,090 will be completed during the coming six months. During
the year the Sanitary Department condemned a number of areas amounting ~
to 5,270 acres, leaving a total of 40,435 acres in pasture areas.

Plantations: Bracho Mindi, Davis, Chilibre and Las Cascadas planta-
tions are under contract with private contractors. At Juan Mina planta- —
tion, the cultivation of the citrus grove continued throughout the year
and the prospects of an abundant crop are very promising.

PouLtRy’ FARM.

The results of the operation of the Farm have not imiproyed since our
last report, and the outlook is far from encouraging. However, a change
in the management of the Farm is to be made in the near future and
another effort will be made to place it on a self-supporting basis. During
the year just closed the cost of chicken feed, practically all of which hasto -
be imported from the United States, oreatly advanced, adding to the cost
of operations.

‘The egg production for the year amounted to 7, 494 9 12 dozen hen —
and 515 5-12 dozen duck eggs, of which 5,340 2-12 dozen hen eggs were
sent to the Commissary, also 515 5-12 dozen duck and 2,061 4-12 hen
eggs were used in the incubators, and 62 2-12 dozen hen eggs sold to
ey: the balance remaining on hand.

Hoe Farm. :

An outbreak of cholera among the hogs resulted in a large number of
deaths, but otherwise the operations have been vary satisfactory. For

Datry Farm. :
The total milk produc ron at the Dairy Farm amounted to 98, 363 34.

gallons, of which 79,4581 gallons were sent to the Commissary along

with 6,91114 gallons of cream, and the balance of 11,994 gallons of milk
was fed to calves.
