22 : : ‘PANAMA RAIL ROAD COMPANY. The agricultural leases, 282 in number, cover property at Majagual and Escondido, which is that district on Panama Rail Road lots east of Colon. The rental value of these agricultural leases amounts to $1,422.70, although we are not collecting any rental from holders of leases in this area. The form of leaxe for the properties at these two small villages is a short-term form and may be cancelled at any time without the payment of indemnity, and were executed several years ago for the purpose of having the present occupant acknowledge the Panama Rail Road Co. as being the owner of the land. About three years ago revocable licenses were issued to all those people. having houses on the Huertas and Honduras tract east of the Canal opposite Empire and Culebra; no rental, however, having been collected from the licensees. ‘These licenses were revoked during the month of April of this year and all squatters removed from the property. During the fiscal year there were 37 new leases executed for 46 new lots in the cities of Colon and Panama. The estimated total annual rental value of all teased property is shown on July 1, 1914, as $180,645.09, which is a decrease of $12,851.48 from last year’s estimated rental values. This decrease is occasioned by the cancellation of all the Empire and Culebra leases effective June 30th. Of course, this amount is merely an estimated rental value for the next year, should the Panama Rail Road Co. continue collecting rentals on all properties shown as being leased on July 1, 1914, at the rates indicated in our record books. | The actual rentals collected from all property during the past year amounted to $141,792.99, which is an increase of $7,433.42 over the actual collections for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1913. This amount not only includes rentals collected from leased lots, but also rentals collected from the various buildings owned by the Panama Rail Road Co. in Colon and Balboa. : The following statement shows all Panama Rail Road revenue producing lots covered by leases 1 in effect July 1, 1913, to June 30, 1914: LEASES.
