High School Senior First AJC Award Recipient
Kimberly Collins, graduating
senior at Hollywood Hills High
School, was selected to be the
first recipient of the Broward
County Chapter of the American
Jewish Committee's student Hu-
man Relations Award.
A plaque and a check for $250
were presented by Estella Mari-
arty, chairman of the Broward
County School Board, at Pier 66
April 9 at the annual dinner of
the AJC.
MS. MARIARTY. along with
William Markham. Broward
County property appraiser, and
Michael Marinelli. president of
Inter-County Construction Corp..
were the judges of this newly
created award.
Leah Weinstein. chairman of
the Award Committee, explained
that the judges were given the
profiles of those students nomi-
nated by their school principals.
with the name of the student and
the school blocked out to insure
fairness in the selection process.
The students were not selected
for scholastic merit but on the
basis of excellence in the area of
human relations. The other nomi-
nees will receive certificates of
merit at the awards assembly of
their respective schools.
