Throughout the year regular monthly luncheon meetings were held, at which the following outstanding speakers participated as guests: Rabbi Lee J. Levinger of Columbus, Ohio, Rabbi Israel L. Kaplan, Harold Cohn, Dr. Joseph Rose, Moe Safer, Joe Bransky, Montague Rosenberg, and Nathan J. Roberts. The highlight of the year’s activities was the B’nai B’rith Sabbath held in the Jacksonville Jewish Center Synagogue at which the Anti-Defamation work and the Hilled Foundations at the Universities sponsored by the American order of B’nai B’rith were thoroughly reviewed. The local chapter sent delegates to the 5th District Convention of the order which took place in Orlando, Florida. Delegates were also sent to the State Federation Meeting held at the end of August in West Palm Beach. One of the important resolutions of the Federation Meeting was that of pro¬ viding the Jewish students of the University of Florida with a permanent Rabbi. The local chapter also continued its policy of aiding deserving students attending the University of Florida with appropriate scholarships and carried on the local work of the national Anti-Defamation League.
