Glickstein Treasurer The Jewish Welfare Society, an agency of the Jacksonville Community Chest, will complete its 20th year of charitable work on January 1st, 1939. During the past year the Jewish Welfare Society rendered a wide constructive service to the needy Jewish people in the community and to stranded and sick strangers. During the past year 379 cases were handled. Problems dealt with included unemployment, illness, old age, insufficient income, mental cases, dependent children, transportation and need for medical, dental and optical treatment. The society provided 410 meals, 261 lodgings, material relief to 21 families, 10 transportations to legal residence, milk daily to 10 children and four adults, clothing for 96 persons, cash assistance to 11, nursing home care for three, employment for seven and medical service for 45. The following standing and special committees served efficiently during the year: Employment Committee, Mr. I. M. Lieberman, Chairman; Social Welfare Volunteer, Mrs. Albert Sommer, Chairman; Big Brother and Sister, Mrs. M. D. Margolis, Chairman; and Special Community Chest, Rabbi I. L. Kaplan, Chairman. The Jewish Welfare Society takes this opportunity to wish all its mem¬ bers and friends a very happy New Year and to thank the Officers, Board Members, professional men, merchants, organizations, institutions and indi¬ viduals who made it possible to carry on successfully the work of the organi¬ zation.
