The Center Glee Club was organized on January 20th by Rabbi Morris
D. Margoiis with the Center Men’s Choir as the nucleus. The Music De¬
partment of the local WPA loaned the services of Miss Elizabeth D. Jones,
an experienced musician, to teach the Glee Club. A number of Yiddish
Folk Songs and Palestinian Hebrew melodies were studied. The main pro¬
blem of the c'.ub was the lack of a sufficient number of female voices.
The Glee Club presented a beautiful program at the Confirmation ser¬
vice and sang two appropriate selections at the Community Memorial Service
on feptember 18th. Members of the club appeared from time to time as
soloists on the Jewish Center Radio Program. Plans are being made for
the reorganization of the Glee Club during the fall term. A concert of
Hebrew and Jewish folk songs will be presented towards the end of the season.
Miss Raila Fink gave valuable service as piano accompianist.
