The 'work consisted of the weekly bacteriological examination of the water supplies of Colon, Gorgona, Bas Obispo, Empire, Rio ( rande, and special examinations of the water supplies of Las Cascadas and the Chagres River at Bohio; chemical examinations of milk; stomach contents for arsenic; and of medicines for poisons. Examinations of mineral oil; examination of lepers; examination of blood, exudates, and urine; examination of blood for the ae'glutination reaction; examination of tissue from the operating room and from autopsies. Certain determinations and 'investigations in progress may be mentioned: Analysis of wire screening and of evaporated cream; assay of quinine sulphate; determination of ammonia error ini urea; a study of the infectiousness of pleural fluids; staining methods for leprosy bacilli in tissues; investigation of terminal infections, and of certain irregular fevers coming to autopsy.
