Figure 1.4 is a flow chart of the wave model. Subroutine WAVNUM determines the wave
number k, the group velocity Ct and the intrinsic frequency a at each of the grid centers.
These terms are used in the governing parabolic equation. Subroutine AMPCO determines
the coefficients of the tridiagonal matrix and CTRIDA solves the matrix equation for the
complex amplitude on the next grid row. CTRIDA is essentially the same as TRIDA except
that it has been modified to handle complex numbers. The subroutine WW is called by the
AMPCO subroutine in order to determine the dissipation coefficient following the work of
Dally (1980,1987).
Chapter 2 describes the circulation model in greater detail. Individual sections will
cover the governing equations and the formulation of each of the component terms. Chap
